Law Engineering operation merges with Colorado firm

Law’ Engineering & Environmental Services and two other companies have merged under the umbrella of Mactec Inc., a Colorado-based engineering sendees firm.

“The new Mactec has expanded resources allowing us to perform virtually any scope of work, regardless of size or complexity,” say’s Scott Stone, company branch manager in Charlotte.

Mactec, headquartered in Golden, Colo., recently merged with Law, Herndon, Va.-based Pacific Environmental Sendees Inc. and Oak Brook, 111.-based Harding ESE Inc.

Stone say’s about eight former Harding employee’s will be absorbed by the local Law’ office.

Law’, which is based in Atlanta, employs about 120 at LakePointe office park, off Yorkmont Road and Billy Graham Parkway. The company has had an office in Charlotte since 1950.

“The Law’ name has been a significant part of the Charlotte business community for more than five decades,” Stone says. “We are confident that Mactec will quickly become a well recognized name in Charlotte.”

Clients should see little immediate change in the company’s local operations, Stone says.

Tire Charlotte office provides engineering, technology, construction, industrial and environmental services.

Tire merger is the latest in a series of expansions by Mactec, which is now’ a $524 million company’ with 4,500 employees in 125 offices nationwide.

Colliers Pinkard inks lease deals

Colliers Pinkard has recently arranged leases totaling almost 72,000 square feet, including a 43,200-square-foot lease to Southern Staircase of N.C. at 1108 Continental Blvd.

Tire Atlanta-based company, which employs 50 workers locally, manufactures and distributes staircases and stair railings.

Southern Staircase had been in two suites at the Continental Boulevard building split by another business, says Don Wagner, Charlotte branch manager. Tire other company recently left, allowing Southern to connect its operations.

Greg Copps of Colliers Pinkard represented Southern Staircase. Matt Harper of Childress Klein Properties Inc. represented the landlord, a limited partnership called Piirebrook Center.

Other new contracts include an 18,175-square-foot lease to Chun Yu Works USA, a distributor of nuts, bolts and screw’s manufactured at the company’s operations in Taiwan. The company, which is new to Charlotte, operates its local distributorship at 3021 Asbury’ Ave.

Copps represented Chun Yu. Steve Cornwell of Spangler Properties represented the building ownership.

Meanwhile, Corporate Travel Management Inc. subleased 3,201 square feet at 14045 Ballantyne Corporate Place. Tom Kelly of Colliers Pinkard represented the tenant and the landlord, GE Medical
Systems.

And Medical Claims Management Corp. leased 7,565 square feet at 2115 Rexford Road. Mike Kemmet and Rob Cochran of Colliers Pinkard represented the tenant. Paula Sneed of CB Richard
Ellis represented the landlord, LNR Property Corp.

Tripp Guin, with 51/2 years experience in business development at Office Environments Inc., has left to form Iris own business-development company, called Referral Resource.

Guin, 30, plans to make contacts for companies targeting businesses that are moving or expanding.

His sendees will include helping identify companies that may need new office furniture and supplies, telemarketing sendees, phone systems, architectural sendees or staffing.
